We invited a school to Stublach to celebrate International Women's Day

To Celebrate International Women's Day and the theme of Inspiring Inclusion we invited students from The County High School Leftwich to Stublach

We were thrilled to welcome students from years 9 and 10 from The County High School Northwich to celebrate International Women's Day 2024. The teams from Operations, Engineering and maintenance presented on what we do at Storengy UK and how their roles support the business. We were keen to showcase the many roles that support the successful running of the Stublach site and the career paths that can lead to the STEM related areas.

It is well documented that women are under represented in our industry. There was a great discussion on what the students thought the barriers were to females pursuing subjects and careers in engineering fields. The keys points:

  • Stereotypes

  • Female Representation in the teaching profession in STEM subjects - but this is not the case at The County High School, Leftwich they have numerous members of female staff in these roles

  • Education - understanding what is involved in the roles sometimes this isn’t always explained or taught

  • Understanding the opportunities available in the local area - The North West is a fantastic area for STEM industry

All of this was followed by a tour of the site and control room. Thank you for visiting and thank you to all involved in supporting this successful event.

Happy International Women's Day!!
