Working with the Community

We are keen to work with the local community supporting young people, green initiatives, Charity organisations to name a few.

Community Fund

We decided to allocate funding for some local initiatives that we hope went a small way in making a big difference.

The Community fund is used to support an array of interesting projects with local charities. In 2023 we part funded the opening of the 'Edna's Laundrette' in Winsford. The community laundry, run by the Motherwell charity, will not only be a laundrette but will offer drop-in support to help people with things such as debt and money management as well as employment and wellbeing.

In 2024 the Local Community Fund will be used to support more projects including young children through educational initiatives, health and well being charities and doing our bit to support charities dealing with people affected by the cost of living crisis. And we are please to have already awarded funding to:

The Joshua Tree's crowd funding for an additional outdoor space. The Joshua tree support families dealing with childhood cancer;

and to Let's Farm's project to fund a poly tunnel on their working farm. The charity offer the chance for young adults with learning disabilities age 18 plus who live in Cheshire to gain valuable employability skills.

Helping the community go green!

In line with our commitment and strategy to help local business & communities to a low carbon economy, we will continue to look at ways we can support projects such as ones focusing on energy efficiency improvements that residents can implement in their own homes.

Example of our funding is Byley Village Hall, Storengy UK supplied funding for Solar PV panels and the Village Hall funded a Telsar battery to store the energy generated. 

School out reach projects

The team are dedicated to supporting the next generation, into STEM careers and we have a number of specialist personnel in our team who are willing to share their expertise with local young people, from primary school to recent graduates, in real life scenarios, encouraging creativity and innovation. 

We were thrilled to welcome students from years 9 and 10 from The County High School Leftwich to celebrate International Women's Day 2024. The teams from Operations, Engineering and maintenance presented on what we do at Storengy UK and how their roles support the business. We were keen to showcase the many roles that support the successful running of the Stublach site and the career paths that can lead to the STEM related areas.

Some members of the team took part in a film for the local council Cheshire West and Chester. The film included companies from the local area who are supporting the community in Cheshire, through initiatives including:

• Offering Apprentices
• Supporting the local living wage
• Combating climate change with local projects
