Anne-Laure Chassanite

Managing Director

Anne-Laure Chassanite joined Storengy UK on 1 April as Managing Director of Storengy UK, succeeding Michael Gibson.

Anne-Laure holds a Master's degree in Law and is graduated from Science Po Paris.

Starting her career as a change management as a consultant working on the deployment of information technology systems and financial performance for companies in the energy sector and industry restructuring.

In 2007, she joined the ENGIE group as Back Office Desk Manager at the Gas Supply Direction.

She then joined GRDF in 2011 and held the position of Retail Market Manager for the West of France until 2015, when she took on the position of Head of Operations/Maintenance in the Brittany region and then in the Pays de la Loire Poitou-Charentes region, where she managed the operations linked to the transformation of the distribution network to accommodate biomethane.

2019: Heading to the USA, Anne-Laure became Director of Gas Portfolio Management and then Vice President of Power Supply at ENGIE North America, in the B2B Retail affiliate Engie Resources.  

Alan Leadbetter

Technical Director

Alan joined the team at Storengy in 2008 to manage the delivery of the Stublach Gas Storage Project. He was tasked with taking the Stublach site from a green field to the largest underground gas storage facility in the UK.

A Chartered Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Liverpool, he has formerly worked for National Nuclear Corporation, Chloride, ICI and Ineos, acquiring a wide range of engineering and project experience over 34 years.

Alan is now focussing on Business Development projects at Storengy UK, ensuring we proactively support the UK’s energy transition, specialising in hydrogen. 

Outside of work, Alan has two grown-up daughters who he likes to spend as much time as possible with - when he isn’t engrossed in home DIY.

Graham Clarke

Head of Business Services

Graham joined Storengy UK in 2016 as an experienced Supply Chain professional with over 30 years’ experience working within the Oil and Gas industry. 

A Master of Business Administration and a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Graham is an adept negotiator with strong commercial acumen. 

With a proven record of delivering results in challenging environments, Graham has undertaken senior roles on several multi-billion-dollar capital and service type projects, implementing Purchasing and Supply Chain strategies. 

In his current and diverse role as Head of Business Services at Storengy UK, Graham oversees the management of HR, Health and Safety, IT and office management, as well as his duties as Ethics Officer. 

He is able to provide governance and oversight throughout all project phases from concept to close, as a highly motivated and results-driven team leader.

Graham is a keen reader in his spare time, recently enjoying the works of popular humourist P.G. Wodehouse - when he’s not busy playing the electric or acoustic guitar.

Stewart Gilby

Head of Operations

Stewart is a Chartered Chemical Engineer who has over 23 years’ experience working in Industrial Gases manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Nuclear Power Generation, and for the past 13 years in Salt Cavity High Pressure Gas Storage.

Since graduating from the University of Birmingham, Stewart has worked in various operational and process related roles for the likes of BOC Gases, Eli Lilly and EDF Energy. Stewart joined Storengy UK in May 2018, managing the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering Teams at the Stublach site. 

As Head of Operations, Stewart’s main responsibilities include managing the day to day site operational activities to ensure the site operates safely and efficiently, whilst optimising plant availability and reliability for maximising commercial benefits. Stewart is also responsible for all the COMAH regulatory and more general statutory compliance aspects of the Stublach site.

As a keen rugby union fan, Stewart has switched from playing to watching since hanging up his boots – attending England International games on a regular basis whilst also continuing to support his local rugby team in Warrington.

Robin Cannings

Head of Commercial

Robin has been with Storengy UK since 2009, after moving over from parent company Engie in 2006. With a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield, Robin originally worked in IT in the Technology and Education sectors where he travelled globally to deliver projects and troubleshoot problems.

With a wealth of experience, Robin now oversees marketing of the Stublach Gas Storage facility’s capacities, and commercialising the areas of Storengy’s low carbon gas business according to Storengy's growth strategy. 

He is responsible for managing the regulatory and commercial risks to the business,  working closely with our operational teams, and providing a connection to the business for our stakeholders, both customers and in the wider industry.

Outside of work, Robin enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors as much as possible - preferably walking and exploring new places, or gardening.

Franck Turmel-Josek

Hydrogen Director

Franck has more than 25 years of experience in the gas industry, most of which has been acquired hands-on within underground natural gas storages. He started his career in France, acquiring experience in different roles and sites.

He has contributed to the operational start-up of the Storengy UK - Stublach facility beginning in 2014. He left the UK in 2018. From 2019 to mid-2023, he worked in the U.S., focusing on Renewable Natural Gas business development. He worked on various files, from greenfield development to M&A.

He re-joined Storengy UK in September 2023. Franck manages Storengy UK’s hydrogen underground storage development efforts.

Franck has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Research in European economics, and an Executive MBA. As a keen triathlete, you may see him running early in the morning in the park around Anderton Boat Lift.
